T-Shirt Sewing Workshop- 25th April

Skill level:
Suitable for confident beginners who are comfortable sewing straight lines and using a sewing machine. If you’re completely new to sewing, we recommend starting with our beginner drawstring bag workshop to build confidence before moving on to sewing with stretch fabrics.

We keep our classes small with a maximum of 6 adults per session. If the workshop is sold out, feel free to send us a message and we’ll keep you updated on the next available dates.

What you’ll make:
A simple, comfortable T-shirt made with stretch fabric — a great introduction to sewing your own clothes.

What you’ll learn:

• How to sew with stretch fabrics
• Tips for handling jersey and preventing fabric from stretching while sewing
•  Understanding grain line and fabric direction with knit fabrics
• Sewing shoulder seams, side seams and attaching sleeves
• How to attach and finish a neckline
• Finishing hems neatly on stretch fabric

Session length:
4 hours

What to bring:

• 1.5–2 metres of stretch fabric (depending on length and sleeve style, send us an email to confirm the amount you'll need)
• Suitable fabrics include cotton jersey, interlock or other light to medium weight knit fabrics.
• Matching thread

What we provide:

Sewing machine, scissors, tape measure, pins, sewing clips and chalk.
