FAQ

Can I book an intermediate lesson for my child?
Yes! All of our children’s sewing lessons are mixed-level, welcoming both beginners and intermediate students. Once you’ve made your booking, simply let us know your child’s sewing level by emailing marcela@onasew.co.uk so we can tailor the lesson to suit them.

How do you teach both beginners and intermediates in the same class?
Our classes are kept small — with a maximum of 8 children per session — so we can give everyone plenty of one-to-one attention. Beginners learn the basics step by step, while more experienced students continue developing their skills through individual projects.

Will my child automatically be booked into the following term?
No, bookings don’t carry over automatically. Please make sure to rebook your child if they’d like to continue sewing, as spaces are limited and fill up quickly. An email will be sent as soon as lessons are made available.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?
If your child misses a lesson, we’ll do our best to offer a make-up session, but this can only be fulfilled if there’s a space available in another class. Unfortunately, make-up sessions cannot be guaranteed due to small class sizes.

Do I need to buy fabric for my child or teen?
Fabrics are provided for all children and teen lessons, so there’s no need to bring anything.

If your child has a favourite fabric at home they’d love to sew with, they’re absolutely welcome to bring it!

All adult lessons require you to bring your own fabrics — or you can choose and purchase fabric in-store when you attend your session.

What kind of fabric should I buy and how much?
If you’re unsure what fabric you need or how much to bring, please send us a message and let us know what project you’ll be making — we’ll be happy to advise you.
Alternatively, we have a beautiful range of home furnishing and dressmaking fabrics available in-store.

Can I buy fabric, zips or thread in the studio on the day of my workshop?

Yes you can!

Do you offer half-term workshops for children?
Yes! We run creative workshops during school holidays. To stay updated, sign up for our newsletter, check our website, or email marcela@onasew.co.uk for upcoming dates.

All available spaces are listed online. Please note that places can be booked very quickly, so unfortunately we're unable to hold spaces or add extra places once a session is full.

I haven't received the consent form for the holiday camp, where can I find it?

Holiday camp information and consent forms are sent out approximately one week before your booked date. If you haven't received your consent form, please email us at marcela@onasew.co.uk and we'll be happy to resend it.
