Freelance Sewing Teacher (Saturdays)
Location: On A Sew, Brixton Hill, South West London
Contract: Freelance
Hours: 2 Saturdays per month, 4–7 hours per day
Pay: £20–£30 per hour, depending on experience
About the role
On A Sew is a small, independent sewing studio in South West London. We’re looking for a friendly and reliable freelance sewing teacher to support our Saturday workshops.
This role would suit someone who already has some teaching experience — this could be through running your own sewing lessons, workshops, or teaching in another setting (formal or informal). All workshops are beginner-friendly, and lesson plans will be shared in advance to support you.
What you’ll be doing
- Teaching and supporting small, beginner-level sewing workshops
- Guiding students through projects using provided lesson plans
- Helping learners feel confident using sewing machines
- Creating a calm, welcoming, and supportive learning environment
- Setting up and tidying the studio before and after sessions
What we’re looking for
- Solid sewing experience (garment making, home sewing, or similar)
- Confidence using a domestic sewing machine
- Some experience teaching or supporting learners (sewing or another subject)
- Friendly, patient, and approachable
- Reliable and comfortable working with adults (and occasionally young people)
- Happy to follow set lesson plans and studio processes
