Sew Your Own Project – Supported Sewing Session

Got a sewing project you've been meaning to start or one that's been sitting unfinished for far too long? Bring it along to our Sew Your Own Project sessions!

Whether you're starting something new, tackling a tricky step or finally finishing that garment you've put aside, this is your chance to enjoy some uninterrupted sewing time in our friendly Brixton Hill studio.

Work at your own pace, enjoy sewing alongside others and get a helping hand from our tutor whenever you need it. We'll provide the sewing machines, tools and guidance, you just bring your project!

Who is this workshop for?

This session is not suitable for complete beginners.

You must already have some experience using a sewing machine, including threading, winding a bobbin and sewing basic stitches.

Don't worry if you've never used our machines before! Every sewing machine is a little different, so we'll happily show you how ours work before you get started.

You don't need to be an experienced dressmaker, but you should feel comfortable working independently with a little guidance along the way.

What can you bring?

Anything from a brand-new pattern you've been wanting to try to a half-finished project that's been giving you trouble!

Perhaps you'd like to start a new garment, get help understanding a sewing pattern, tackle a technique you're unsure about or simply make some progress on your never-ending sewing pile.

What do you need to bring?

Please bring your chosen project along with any fabric, patterns, thread, zips, buttons or other materials you might need.

You'll have access to our sewing machines, cutting tables, irons and general sewing tools.

This is really important as it gives us a chance to prepare ahead of time and make sure we're ready to help you with your chosen project.

Please remember that this is a supported sewing session rather than a step-by-step workshop. Our tutor will be there to answer questions, demonstrate techniques and help when you get stuck, but you'll be working independently for most of the session.
