Introduction to zips- 28th June

Skill level:
Suitable for anyone over the age of 18.  Some basic sewing experience is ideal, as you may not finish the project within the 2.5 hours.

This workshop is a great follow-on from our Introduction to Sewing session.

This is a relaxed, supportive workshop designed to help you feel confident using a sewing machine while learning how to sew in a zip. We’ll take things step by step, with plenty of guidance, questions encouraged, and no pressure to be perfect.

This session focuses on the practical basics of zip insertion alongside core sewing skills — so you leave with a clear understanding of how your machine works and the confidence to try zips again at home.

What you’ll learn
How to thread and confidently use a sewing machine
How to insert a zip
How to add a lining
Understanding seam allowances and fabric basics

What you’ll work on
You’ll make a simple lined zip pouch, giving you a practical project to take home while building confidence with both the sewing machine and zip insertion.

What to bring
You don’t need to bring anything with you, but you’re welcome to bring a notebook and pen if you’d like to take notes.
