This simple drawstring bag workshop is designed especially for adults who are new to sewing. We’ll begin with a gentle introduction to the sewing machine — learning how it works, how to thread it, and how to sew with confidence — before moving on to making your own drawstring bag.

You’ll practise sewing straight seams, creating a neat casing, and threading the drawstring for a clean, functional finish.

Made using easy-to-handle cotton fabrics, this project helps you build accuracy, understand seam allowances, and follow clear step-by-step construction in a supportive environment.

What you’ll learn

• How to thread and confidently use a sewing machine
• Practising straight stitching
• How to add a lining
• Understanding fabric basics, seam allowances, and grain line

What’s included

• All machines, tools, and practice fabrics will be provided.
• Small group teaching for plenty of support

No need to bring anything — we’ll provide all the fabrics and tools you’ll need on the day.
