Beginner Sewing Lessons – South West London

Always wanted to learn to sew but not sure where to begin?

Our beginner sewing lessons in South West London are the perfect place to start. With no more than two students per session, you’ll enjoy plenty of individual guidance in a relaxed and friendly setting. No prior sewing experience is needed.

Who it’s for:

These lessons are designed for complete beginners or anyone with very little sewing knowledge. We’ll start with the basics, introducing you step by step to the sewing machine and overlocker.

What you’ll make:

A beautifully finished cushion cover with an invisible zip

Clothing repairs (we’ll move on to mending once your cushion is complete)

What you’ll learn:

• How to thread and use a sewing machine confidently
• Sewing straight lines, reverse stitching, and finishing seams
• Understanding fabrics, grain lines, seam allowances, and how to pin/mark fabric correctly
• Inserting an invisible zip
• Using a cover stitch to neatly finish raw edges for a professional result

What to bring:

• 50cm of cotton fabric (avoid velvet or silks)
• Matching thread
• 40cm-45cm zip
• At least 4 items you’d like to mend

What’s provided:

All other tools and equipment are ready for you – sewing machines, scissors, pins, clips, tape measures, and chalk.
